Author: Lynn Johnson Description: PRINT Women of Weed / Seattle: Alison Draisin (owner of Ettalews Edibles) 215-485-6977 Alison is at the center of this meeting of the Women of Weed, an organization of like-minded women business owners who work in the cannabis industry. It was started by Ah Warner as a response to this male dominated industry to encourage women to get more involved and be more vocal about their role in this rapidly growing industry. WoW is not a union or political action committee. It exists to gather together, support and encourage risk-taking women who are becoming a force in the cannabis world, to speak out about their chosen path. Some of these women have been growing and using cannabis for years, others are newbies but all are committed to moving from the paranoid shadow market into the healthier light. Author: Lynn Johnson Description: PRINT Colorado Springs, Co. Kim Clark and her sons, Jax,13 (typical child, blond hair) and Caden,11 (seizure child-curly red hair) 404-483-9275 [email protected] KimÕs parents were serious potheads by her account, her husband is a drug cop in Atlanta, Georgia. Three strikes against marijuana as a solution for her son, Caden/Cadon, who suffered vaccine induced encephalopathy as an infant. At the age of one, his doctor told Kim he saw nothing hopeful on his scans, nothing but "piss and drool." Officially he had Lennox Gastaut Syndrome. She believed the doctors and followed their suggestion to remove the right front lobe of CadonÕs brain and severed the two hemispheres but for the last third to limit the seizure activity. He continued to seizeÑ500 a day before surgery and 200 a day after surgery. It was Jax who first suggested they move to Colorado to find help. The have always had a connection. He saw the life spark and longing in his brother. Early on Kim made the exchange of love the baseline for life. "If Cadon had wanted to lay down and die I would have honored that, but he wanted to go on. Twice she tied his feet to hers in an attempt to teach him how to walk. A friend said to her, IÕm not sure I like what you are doing. "Then you will have to turn around and not look," she said. Kim was not giving up. It took months for Kim to wrangle her husband to her side and in the end as wives do, she convinced him by letting him think he had convinced her. She and the boys fled to Colorado Springs. The oil has saved all of their lives. "Hope is a dangerous and precarious thing for us," said Kim. "I was giving him the oil but was not a believer until the first seizure free day." Author: Lynn Johnson Description: PRINT *Denver, Co. Gaia Plant Based Medicines (may have a new name: MINDFUL???) hired Phillip Hague 720-412-3565 to run their grow operation a year ago. Based in Denver and touted as a moderate sized, state of the art grow, Gaia had some rather significant challenges on start up including the loss of hundreds (thousands?) of plants due to mold. Cannabis is designed by nature to grow outdoors so the methods developed over the years to adapt the plants to manmade conditions of controlled lighting (day/night) cycles, chemical nutrients and pesticides and container growing can be challenging if not monitored with care. Phillip was an underground grower and plant breeder for years and now he is literally coming into the light trying to manage a much larger production and staff. Growing pains for all. He smells the roots of the plants to check for mold and mildew. (I heard from other sources that this is a grow that exists only for investment purposes. This is not uncommon as this is the Weed Wild West right now.) Release: No Software:Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Macintosh) Created: 2015:03:23 12:02:32
Author: Lynn Johnson Description: PRINT Wray Outdoor Grow Ð Jared Stanley 719-551-0186 (tall, thin, wild hair) Jordan Stanley 719-322-1569 (shorter than Jared) Currently about 40 acres planted, 36,000 plants most of them hemp and cannabis strains crossed to elevate CBD, the non-psychoactive chemical in cannabis. Each plant worth about $700. They are planted on an irrigation pivot just like the potatoes and corn on the 60,000-acre farm of a successful Colorado farmer, who came to the rescue after the first farmer changed his mind about the controversial crop. The first plants were planted by hand under 96 to 104 degree sun and wind of the plains. The final portion was planted by machine after the Stanley brothers partnered with Ray Sitorius, a veteran farmer. Each plant had to be tended individually to guard against mold, rabbits and hail. It was intensive, "intimate gardening" said Penn Maddison, whoÕs daughter Millie is taking the oil. The men believe this crop will put a dent in the waiting list of 3000 families in Colorado and 9000 families nationwide desperate for CW oil. At the time of harvest they planned to ship the oil calling it "hemp" due to its low THC content which by law must be less than .03%. But the Stanley Bros lawyers put a halt to that plan due to the unclear Federal stance on the issue. They are planning to plant 230 acres of cannabis/hemp next year. As in all of the ROC divisions, only the trusted need apply for a job. Two brothers head up the Wray team. They have also hired several men whose loved ones use the oil for seizures. Author: Lynn Johnson Description: PRINT Families using Jason CranfordÕs oil: Colorado Springs, Co. Sarah Rowland 507-993-2865 Colorado Springs. Sarah has 4 children: Ava, 11, Lily, 8, Ruby, 5, and Beau, 1. Until recently they lived in Minnesota. They lived in the dark. Sarah cooked by flashlight. The entire family was held hostage by LilyÕs seizures that numbered 200 a day. There is a video of Lily captured on an old cell phone that shows her in a high chair, her head on the tray, damp stringy hair vibrating from the force of a seizure that will not stop. It is painful to watch on that contained, miniature screen. Imagine living everyday watching the real life version. Lily tried 25 different drugs. She wore a helmet all the time. The doctor wanted to cut her brain in half. Sarah heard that and 4 days later loaded all the kids and 2 Great Danes in the car and drove 14 hours to Colorado. She saw the Realm of Caring on CNN but they had a waiting list so she found Jason Cranford and immediately started Lily on high CBD oil with a trace of THC. Today Lily is virtually seizure free and being weaned off the pharmaceuticals. Dosing continues to be a challenge but the family is together, Lily can run, "normal" is within sight. (LilyÕs neurologist advocated for cannabis oil and is trying to begin a study in Minn) Release: Yes Software:Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Macintosh) Created: 2015:03:23 12:02:44
Author: Lynn Johnson Description: PRINT *Denver, Co. Money & guns: Jayson Emo (303-704-5330) aka "Giddy Up" canÕt keep track of all his money. He hides it in a floor safe and in other secret locations. Guns are a way of life and protection as he accepts fists full of money for the concentrate machines he manufactures, in what is still a cash business. This Wild West mentality is suited to those who have lived most of their lives in the underground culture of illegal weed. Giddy Up (or Giddy to his friends) has offered his entire staff weapons training. In spite of his tough guy act Giddy spoke emotionally of a life lived in the shadows until just recently. It is an adjustment to live openly using and supporting the cannabis industry. It is a shock to his psyche and so he remains disbelieving and mistrusting of basically everyone except his own chosen staff. Basically he says the new face of cannabis is all the old faces that have never been seen because they have been underground perfecting the perfect strain or dabbing process. They are gaining pride in their enterprises as they shed the shame internalized during the "War On Drugs" and "Just Say NO" years. They have been saying YES all along and now find millionaires in the midst wanting to play. He is not sure who to trust or how to proceed. Piles of money and acres of plants have been lost in bad deals with beginners. There are still wake and bake stoners but there are also people who smoke daily before their commute into the office, lawyers, corporate types, teachers. But what he has noticed is that the high roller investors are sticking to their alcohol. Release: Yes Software:Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Macintosh) Created: 2015:03:19 11:17:01

Author: Lynn Johnson Description: PRINT *A human billboard for Cannabis products and no regrets, Nadia Dhahbi "Ms. Nadia Noir" (951-858-7861) has been using marijuana since she was a 15. She is enrolled in a local university as Biology major but hasnÕt been attending classes. Marijuana is particularly damaging for young brains. The brain is in an active, experience guided state of development until around the age of 21-25 and so more vulnerable. Exposure to THC at an early age can recalibrate the sensitivity to the reward system in the brain that is linked to the CB1 & CB2 cannabinoid receptors in the brain and body. Cannabinoid receptors are located in the brainÕs reasoning, memory and pleasure centers controlling time and perception as well.
